Verducci?

So, Tom Verducci tells us that Selena Roberts has "a sterling reputation".
Go tell that to the Duke lacrosse players.
Take another hit from the pipe, Tom.

Clearly, clearly, you are in league with your fellow SI jobber.
Good for you. The cock's crowing, pal.....

What I find despicable is that you don't hear anything from the TV or paper reporters about Roberts Duke slime.

That is just wrong.

This isn't about going after the messenger, its about breaking the law, spitting on constitutional rights and judicial law by leaking the story as it was.

I have no problem with A-Rod having to deal with this, as he did use. I do have a problem with how this all came about and how his is still the only name out there.

Heck, even T-Head who plead guilty for lying to congress gets a pass and didn't admit to his own use of steroids.

It really makes you wonder what is wrong with this country, and if it will ever be that shining city on the hill again.

Goat! Welcome back, sir!

Indeed, as Verducci has done, the media is actually sticking up for Selena Roberts. As you say, I have no problem with Alex Rodriguez coming clean, and even facing scrutiny. I DO have a problem with A-Rod being persecuted.

Yes, he is not that great of a person, but even so, he deserves not to be stalked, he deserves not to have anonymous results released to the public eye, he deserves not to be singled out.

As Yankees fans, we are used to being hated; it's not easy being an evil empire, after all. When the hatred is real, when moral condescension is evident, spare me: I am no saint, but I revile the phony moralist above almost all others.

Added to this, as you say, laws have been broken and moral codes trampled. Indeed, where IS the furor over Miggy? Well, A-Rod's the prize.... that sordid story drowns out all the rest.

I know many people who have attended Auburn University, and without exception, they are fine, thoughtful people, people whom I admire, who treat others with respect. Selena Roberts, I do not know you.

Shining city on the hill? We still are; it's all relative. In our society, things [events and trends] are similar to a sine wave... we're on a "freedom" trip right now. It's not really freedom, it's bad behaviour, but that's a secondary point. The wave will curve back upward and we will again value morality to a greater degree at some point [as in, once we realize that all of this diversity and individuality is being allowed to build walls between us]. I'm not against individuality... I AM against stupid krap such as banning "God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. We've got far better things to work on than that.

Chuck, glad to be back!

The trouble with what some people perceive as freedom means that others lose theirs. I fear that there are moves being made by our current government that will be very difficult to undo.

The Founding Fathers were not for separation of Church from State, they were for keeping the State out of Church.

In the A-Rod affair, no not the one with Madonna, it seems that the people who add full access as would be required in order to match up tests with names, it would have to have come from the prosecution. In this case that IS the government.

They were then the ones who had pushed their agenda which matches Selena Roberts.

The protections we are supposed to have get trampled on when a court orders that these records are sealed and yet one player is specifically named with a lot of detail.

This is a circumvention of the court case involving this list. Its going outside the law, and I am not hearing one word from any TV or other media being outraged that this is not being investigated.

A-Rod blew it. That is clear. What is not clear and should be is who leaked this information.

I don't care that he was outed for using PEDs, he did and should be caught for it simply because it bears on the possible records he will set and has set.

This administration has already been showing that what they say and what they do are very far apart. While this case started in the prior administration, I don't see anything or hear anything to say this type of thing will not continue.

The move of the census control to the whitehouse is troubling because it is a political driven move to help keep the power in their hands.

I agree that the leadership of the country generally follows a sine wave pattern, but with the things in this stimulus bill and other moves they are already making, it may not get the chance for the normal swing back.

Ruining A-Rod's reputation was done by A-Rod. It getting out like this was done by the government. That is my biggest problem with this. That and Selena having a long term agenda against him. (She published more than half the articles she wrote on the Yankees specifically on A-Rod.)

"The A-Rod Affair".
"No, not the one with Madonna!"
hahaha poor basterd is a lightning-rod for exclamation points and yellow journalism.

The state and the press.
We are collectively losing our soul.
When do the Masonic emblems get stripped from the dollar bill?

We have our bread and our circuses, and we are not concerned with other people's rights. "Anyway, he got what's coming to him." Disenheartening....
