Swings

Kei Igawa had a bad first outing in Spring Training the other day. Yankees fans, some of them, called for his head. Let's look at this rationally: he's a second-year player. He did not find immediate success in the bigs, despite his $45 million price tag [I know, total cost was even greater]. In his second outing, he and several other hurlers combined on a five inning perfect outing. Any love, fickle fans?

I notice Joba and Ian got hammered yesterday. What's next - hatin' on them as well? Roger Maris, anybody?

Here's my point: if you are a Yankee fan, shut it up, suck it up and be supportive of your team. I know several who do [Old Goat, Wolf, Charmaine, thank you] - many could stand to learn from these fine individuals. 27 in '08 and have a nice day :-)

Oh, how the spoiled children of today suffer, eh, Chuck?

I totally agree with the shutting up and sucking it up part- too many bandwagon kids who don't know Ted Williams or Goose Gossage from Adam's housecat, don't ya know.

Also- I say we can do three in five. We're due a back-to-back by karma. And no, the World Series and a potential Celts title in the same year do not count.

I have a theory about Igawa:

He's only good against big name hitters. Hence, grand slam for the USF guy, scoreless against the MLB team. Scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox, not so good against most of the rest of the MLB. Meanwhile, he still walks a lot of guys, but meanwhile accumulates a lot of Ks.

He's a mystery, that Igawa. He really is.

1915-16, baby. [and, me being charitable, 1903-04]. Actually, being technical, Braves 1914 Sox 1915-16 is a city 3-peat, Mellie. So, best wishes as always, but I have a good feeling for 27 in '08 ;-)

Andrea, very perceptive.... maybe Iggy's mindset is such that he relaxes against Joe Shlabodnik but becomes a tiger [Tora tora tora!!] against champions....interesting. He DOES need to avoid the BB [along with the usual suspects] and concentrate on his name: "Kei". Pronounced "K". Amen. Thank you for visiting, mi amiga :-)

Have your good feeling sweetie, but how can you blame me for being optimistic when it even looks like the B's are going to the playoffs? :)

Big Bad Broons!! hahaha didja know I was a big fan of Bobby Orr? Phil Esposito? Johnny Bucyk? Derek Sanderson? [long before some people walked this earth?]

Well, I won't rain on your parade, dearest Melanie. Indeed, if I take it as an omen that Giants won the Super Bowl, which will omen the Yanks into winning the WS, then I am all for the idea that the B's and Celtics making the playoffs will lead to the Red Socks also making the playoffs ;-)

Gosh, baby, ain't I agreeable? :-)
