24?

No, not Jack Bauer. Mike Mussina. Iron Mike won his 8th of the season, leading the Yankees and tying the league lead [with Dicey K, among others]. At the rate he's going, Moose will win 24 games. He's won 19 before, and 18, and he's come down to the wire on no-hitters, and he's almost been on the winning team in the World Series [which means, he was on the losing team in the World Series].

Realistically, I'll take two out of three. Mike no longer has the stuff to throw a no-no. 85 mph fastballs just don't overpower anyone except perhaps Little Leaguers. I don't think he will win 24, but I hope he DOES find a way to finally win 20. AND, be on the winning side in the World Series.

Go, Moose, go!

Such optimism from a fan whose team is only a 1/2 game north of Baltimore and sitting at .500 in June. Also, I hate to rain on your parade, sweetie, but if Kyle Farnsworth were my 8th inning set-up man, I would panic. Kyle has a proven track record of helping any other team back into the game. :) Just look at last night.

In other exciting news: the C's are going to the Finals!!!!! I was 6 the last time this happened, so I'm understandably excited. Boo to all the haters who said Detroit in 6. Also, Nightwish is coming back this way August 30th with Sonata Arctica, and plans are in place to see them again. Hooray! Two weeks til my vacation!

Hope springs eternal in the realm of the Evil Empire, sweetest. 26 times our faith has been rewarded, and so many other times we have had the excitement of the possible - we MIGHT, we COULD. IF.... as a fan of the game, IF is what we live for. The ring is good, but having a realistic chance is what we demand, and we have that. So do you. That's the way it should be.

Now, on to Krazy Kyle: he's a true Fireman. Ray Bradbury would be proud. Still, it's exciting, no? Panic? No, dearie. Humberto Sanchez is around the corner, besides. And remember, Carl Pavano is about 8 weeks away ;-)

I like Detroit ;-) Used to work a block from the Palace, and they got one Wallace still on the roster [sad to see Big Ben go, though]. Meanwhile, I detest Kobe, and have never liked the Lakers. Even when Jerry West and Gail Goodrich were in the backcourt, one of the best tandems ever, I did not care for the Lakers. Good luck to the Celts; hope they win it all :-)

Where ya goin' on vacation, Pumpkin?

Probably sticking around..going to Maine for a few days, mom and dad said they'd set me up at their timeshare for a couple nights(it's quiet, there's a pool, hot tub, and shuttle to the beach. Exactly what I need right now.)

And........500!!!!!! (and 1 now. When the boys are on, they're on.) What do you think on Tampa? They have the potential to be the real thing, but unlike some analysts, I'm holding judgment until *after* the All-Star break.

Btw- Speaking of the All-Star game, Sox lead the league in nominees, fan voting, and Hank must be ready to explode with the 'Choose Your Shot' competition featuring Papi @ Yankee Stadium. :)

PS- Pavano? The glass man? He might break if someone looks at him the wrong way, let alone throwing.

Bartolo Colon is shaping up to be the best million dollar investment we've made so far. :)

Well, congratulations to Manny and 500 [and soon, to Junior and 600!]

I hope ya have a good time on vacation; sounds like a cool place to be. Just what the doctor ordered :-)

Careful on Carla Pavano: he might stay on the DL longer, with hurt feelings. hahaha

Good luck with Big Bart: I'm still not convinced that he is over the rotator cuff [meaning, he had a tear, and has not had surgery: how long 'til the levee breaks?]

1958. Cincinnati led the way with All-Star votes. :-)
