Ian Kennedy is headed to the DL with a strained latissimus dorsi. A lat. How on God's green earth does a pitcher strain a lat? Then again, we do seem to have met our quota of weird injuries [as in, Pavano's butt].
Reckon this means that Joba Chamberlain will get stretched out and take the next start? He could go four and program Ohly to get four [Ross seems to pitch better when he knows he's going in]. Is the alternative Kei Igawful? God, I hope not. He's straight from the Fahrenheit 451 playbook [remember, where the firemen SET fires?]
I have heard that Jon Lester's father has been diagnosed with cancer. Man, that is tough. I hope he is able to beat this; maybe Jon's experience will help him. My best wishes go out to the Lester family for a full recovery.

Talk about lightning hitting the same place twice, huh?
As for the Sox- man, I wish they would stop taking their road cues from the C's right now....although it's been a really, brutally long time since their last off day, so I can't rule out pure exhaustion. Hope Dice'll be all right- doesn't sound like anything too severe, although we can always give lil Justin Mastersom a call from Pawtucket again if we need to. :)
Looks like age is starting to catch up with some of the Yanks and inexperience with others. I mean, last year was a fluke thing. This year, the record is better but the team just looks....put it this way, I've seen some really awful Sox teams that looked better. Yikes. I'm concerned for the future in the Bronx. A rivalry with Tampa (who I don't acknowledge if only because they're an expansion team) or Toronto or LA-Anaheim Angels just wouldn't seem right.
Did I mention that I *hate* the West Coast road trips? I never get any sleep during them. The games start at 10. Blech! Also, Seth says it's ok for you to have the first invite if I ever manage to score Sox-Yanks tickets at Fenway. :D
Eerie, for certain, on the Lesters :-(
I remember Justin Masterson - has a bright future in front of him. Dicey may just be drained as well.
I think things are finally beginning to jell for the Yanks. Either that, or the power of the moustache: Giambi has one, and Damon and Duncan are following suit. Akin to the Bronx Zoo era?
Maybe. Maybe Sparky and Goose and Thurm and Reggie are reborn and around the corner. Maybe the Cap'n will grow a 'stash?
I agree on the rivalry thing. We're having difficulty with Tampa and Baltimore [go figure] and they hate us, but that doesn't make it a rivalry. I surely can't see anyone in a Rays or O's hat with the circle and line through it! [I think that kinda stuff is for tools, but I can at least SEE the anti-Sox or anti-Yankee cap].
My thanks to Mr. Seth, Pumpkin - that is truly an honour, and he is an esteemed gentleman, in my opinion :-) And, thank you, too - man, that would be awesome!! :-)
Bonus, my friend Karen works security over there, and she knows your on the level, even for a Yanks fan, so she'd help me keep ya from getting beat up. Also, we usually only reserve beatings for the homers and tools that show up. Fortunately, you are neither. :)
As for the Yanks starting to gel, we'll only have a really good idea of it at the All-Star break. I think our guys will be much better after a day off to travel. Even though we lost, go Timmy Wakefield! (He's one of my faves.) His knuckleball was definitely dancing last night. I'd still take a 1-run complete game loss over the shelling he got last time.
Gotta run and get some work done, but I'll be back latahs!
Thanx for lookin' out for me, gals :-) [and thank you for the kind comments, my dear].
Timmy Wakefield, from FIT [Florida Institute of Technology]. Not sure, but his coach there may have been Les Hall. Coach Hall had been our coach at Satellite High School, and then went to FIT over in Melbourne. Tim's a bit younger than I [but not much - 49 to 42 or something like it =:-0 ], so he may have played for Coach Hall. I'll have to look it up! :-)
